I was recently (1st of July 2017) invited to a Nintendo play day at a place called Nexus here in South Africa, Randburg, Johannesburg. Nexus is filled with not only video game and anime goodness but also possesses an epic VR room experience, multiple gaming setups to play on, a comic book store also known as Outer Limits and houses a cafe which on the day was themed for the occasion.
The event itself is basically a small gathering of Nintendo fans coming together to play Nintendo games and just socialize and share the Ninty love. The event hosted a Super Smash Bro tournament on the WiiU which I totally sucked at. And also showcased more of the Nintendo Switch along with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe which challenged anyone on the day to capture their fastest lap times and win a prize.
The main event however was the Super Smash Bros tournament and the winner had the opportunity of selecting 3 amiibo of their choice as well as a The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D figure. The event ran from 10am to 2pm and all attendees received a loyalty card that will reward regulars with limited edition Nintendo merchandise or a Nexus voucher.
Nintendo Play Days are set to take place every month on the first Saturday of the month so be sure to stay locked onto Nexus facebook page for more details and make sure to bring along your Nintendo Switch’s as well as Nintendo 3DS’s on the day.
Since I’ve also recently started uploading more content on my YouTube channel I thought it would be cool to put together a short clip on some of the rounds in Super Smash Bros so please go ahead and check it out below, like and subscribe to my channel. It would be greatly appreciated.
