Let’s Catch Up – eSports, Pokémon GO, Destiny 2 BETA & Hey! PIKMIN

Hey everyone,

Its been quite some time since I last posted unfortunately, but its also been a busy two weeks. Over the past two weeks I’ve been to not only one but two video gaming events also known as eSports. I had the opportunity of playing the Destiny 2 Beta, reviewed the adorable Hey! PIKMIN for SaGamer, did my first podcast on SaGamer known as SA Gamercast and possibly the most exciting news of all is the release of Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon GO. Yep its been a crazy two weeks for me, but also a good one, so let’s begin with the Destiny 2 BETA.

Destiny 2 BETA
One of the things you’ll learn about me as you follow my blog posts is that I love multi-player titles. And when I say this I mean more of the Nintendo sort such as Mario Kart, Nintendoland and New Super Mario Bros. Although I’m also a huge fan of co-op titles such as Monster Hunter, Diablo III or most recently The Division. Which is why Destiny has always intrigued me. I’ve often watched streams and play-through’s of Destiny but never dived into the game so when I had the opportunity to grab a code for the BETA, I jumped. Needless to say I did not regret it and I find myself now in the position of pre-ordering the title. Check out a short clip I uploaded to my YouTube channel with some game-play.

eSports – Rush & VS Gaming
Last weekend in Johannesburg, South Africa there were two esport events hosted. Rush, hosted by the guys that bring us rAge expo and the other VS Gaming. Both events were incredible in terms of professional gaming in South Africa, the venues and set up were all amazing and I can’t wait to see more of this in the future! The support for professional gamers is incredible. The events hosted tournaments for titles such as League of Legends, Counter Strike and Fifa to name a few. Check out photo’s below and a video showing off more on the events and stay tuned to my twitter and facebook feeds for upcoming events…coincidentally there is one happening next weekend on the 5th of August which isn’t an esports event, however should be tons of fun for Nintendo fans – Nintendo Play Day at The Nexus in Randburg, if you’re in the area I highly recommend you attend.

VS Gaming

My first Podcast
SaGamer recently started a podcast known as SA Gamercast. I, unfortunately wasn’t available to join the first and second episodes, however I am on the third. Please check it out and support. Episode 1 & Episode 2.

For all the Pikmin fans out there Hey! PIKMIN released yesterday the 28th of July on the Nintendo 3DS. Being a Pikmin fan I have to admit that nostalgia feeling was immense! However the game itself was not what I expected and if you go into it expecting an RTS with multi-tasking then please re-think that and check out my review over on SaGamer.

Legendary Pokémon Appear
Finally and what has consumed a large part of my current week is  Pokémon GO. Niantic Labs last week hosted a large Pokémon GO event in Chicago. The event was of course to celebrate the games one year anniversary. The result of the event was the release of Legendary Pokémon, namely Lugia and Articuno. The Pokémon are available through raids hosted at Pokémon Gyms however many trainers have thus complained about their low capture rate. Its been just less than a week and I’ve yet to capture either of these mythical birds although I’ve participated in legendary raid battles. Nevertheless the raids have been incredible, I’ve met new trainers and fans all over Johannesburg and to see so many active players still playing the game is quite exciting. The sad part is that Niantic has also recently announced that Articuno will only be available for a few more days which leaves me with about 2 days to go before I lose my chance to catch Team Mystics mascot…wish me luck!

That’s it from me guys and gals, please let me know what you’ve been up to and what you’ve been playing. Please check out my social media channels and subscribe to the blog, I’d really appreciate all the support.
