Controller of Life – weekly catch up…

Courage is the magic that turns dreams into reality – Aster & Richter Abend (Tales of Symphonia)

Hey everyone and welcome back to Controller of Life. Not much games were played this week unfortunately, however, there are quite a bit of juicy news bits…well juicy for me, so you’ll have to decide whether the juice is right for you…and an upcoming Nintendo event.

Before we move onto the news bits, make sure to check out the Nexus facebook page. The first weekend (Saturday) of every month the epic Nintendo fans at Nexus host a Nintendo Play Day. A few hours (10am to 2pm) filled with competitions and Ninty gaming madness. It’s quite a blast and you can also take your kids along since they don’t only have multiple consoles set up but the other guests are usually super friendly and accomodating as well. Some of the games that’ll be played on the day are Mario Tennis Aces, Super Smash Bros, Splatoon 2 and Mario Kart 8. Make sure you book space in that calender for tomorrow’s Nintendo Play Day.

Now, the news bits
It’s been a good week for rpg fans as we not only received confirmation of Arc the Lad R coming to mobile but also received more news on the next Digimon title, called Digimon Survive, which evidently includes a tactical rpg turn based battle system. Unfortunately both games have only been confirmed for Japan thus far but I do have high hopes. And of course if you’re still playing Pokémon GO you’ll be happy to learn that the legendary beast of lightning has returned through field research tasks. What’s more is that this month Pokémon GO community day will be in the form of two days! Niantic has advised that trainers can expect three hour periods to catch the adorable Eevee on both the 11th and 12th of August. There is usually a large community that gathers here in South Africa on the day, so I’ll be sure to post here once I’ve received all of this months information.

And finally to round off this catch up I am about to admit why I have not played much this week. Indeed, it does have to do with working late, however the hour leisure time I stretch out before bed in the evenings has been utilized for something other than gaming and that’s Netflix…

Netflix, the best thing since sliced bread
Thanks to a close friend of mine, I finally decided to take some time out and jump into Netflix. With not having much time it’s difficult to just sit down and watch a show but after a little taste of it last weekend, I just could not get enough. And for everyone wanting to try it out, GO for it!! The first month’s free after all. But trust me when I say that after an evening with it, I already want to throw my money at it. The selection not only for the kids, is incredible. From documentaries, series, animated movies and obviously the thing that has me hooked – ANIME. Obviously the major con is that you’ll need to be connected to watch and we all know that data costs here in South Africa is not cheap. Even downloading to watch offline on Netflix takes data. However, if you’re tired of watching the same thing on ‘regular’ channels, and have data to spare, Netflix is definitely the way to go.

Well, that’s it for this week. Next week holds a Blast from the Past, some more Persona 4, a public holiday and hopefully some Monster Hunter World Behemoth madness. Have a crazy awesome weekend and I hope to see some of you at the Nintendo Play Day.
